Monday April 3, 2017 l Movie Screening: Featuring the Real Queen of Katwe

On Monday April 3rd, Beautiful World will be hosting a movie screening for Toronto high school youth and their educators and/or mentors. We will be hosting a special screening of the Disney film, The Queen of Katwe with the queen herself – Phiona Mutesi. Phiona grew up in the slums of Katwe in Uganda, and through a local sports outreach program learned to play chess while seeking a hot meal to eat. She has since become a national chess champion and candidate master. Her life story is the inspiration for the film.

This inspiring evening will include a screening, movie snacks, Q&A with Phiona and her coach and mentor, Robert Katende, and the opportunity to meet Phiona and take pictures.

This is a great opportunity to hear an incredible story from a real-life hero and make a positive change in the lives of girls in sub-Saharan Africa.

Join us for a FREE movie screening of Disney’s The Queen of Katwe with snacks, Q&A with Phiona and her coach, Robert Katende, and photos with Phiona.
