Odile grew up near Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. She did not have an easy childhood. Her mother abandoned the family when Odile was 2 years old and when she was in secondary school, her father was put in jail. Odile and her four siblings stayed with their stepmother, who struggled to care for them alone. Thankfully, Odile received government assistance that enabled her to complete secondary school. Since graduating, she has searched for a job that would enable her to save money for a higher education. After 2 years of searching, she was still not able to secure a job that would provide enough money to cover her basic needs and enable her to set aside money for tuition. Refusing to give up on her dream, she kept her spirits up by volunteering at her church and praying for a miracle.

Odile has always dreamed of a career in Hotel Management, as tourism is a thriving industry in Rwanda. In 2014, Odile’s prayers were answered. She applied to Beautiful World’s scholarship program, run in partnership with FAWE Rwanda, and was accepted. We are thrilled to say that Odile is now pursuing a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management.
